Getting a Grip on Children's Lit: A Sneak Preview

Sep 1, 2004 - © Irene Taylor

School is about ready to start, and all of you parents and teachers out there are probably looking for some great books for your children to get the new school year started off right.

Before you hit the book stores or libraries, you might want to check out the course Getting a Grip on Children's Lit: http://www.suite101.com/course.cfm/17939... at Suite University.

This course is written and taught by Rachel Steen, a mom, a Montessori teacher and now a sales person in a children's book store.

Here's a bit of what Rachel has to say in her course introduction:

This course will talk about categories of children's books (i.e.- board book, picture book, chapter book) and what they mean. It will offer guidelines in determining the age level of certain books, reading aloud to children and stages of reading, as well as the discussion of must read books, classic books, award winners, etc.
