Down Home Remedies, part 3

As to my own home method for combating diarrhea, and it has been a life-long battle, it is a simple remedy. I came by this through my son's ex-mother-in-law. My son and I were at her house one day and both suffering from the same affliction. They say diarrhea is hereditary you know-it runs in the 'jeans.' Anyway, this wonderful lady handed each of us a bottle of pectin, the stuff you put in your jams and jellies, when you make them, to get them thick and to set-up properly. We each drank our bottle, and talk about taking an overdose. We both were setting-up right and proper in extreme discomfort for a couple of weeks.

Now that I know better, when the affliction comes upon me I dissolve a bare one-half teaspoon of powdered pectin in a little bit of water and drink it. It's a lot cheaper than pricey drugstore cures and if you check the labels on some of them you will find that pectin is one of the main ingredients. Just as an after thought, after you drink your pectin mix, put the glass or cup and spoon to soak. The pectin not only coats the inside of your stomach but also the inside of the glass and if it dries you'll not have fun getting it clean. This remedy is also safe for animals. I've doses several kittens with it, and once dosed a goose that had diarrhea.
