Down Home Remedies, part 1To seal the cork in the bottle take the can you keep your paraffin in for covering jams and jellies and place it on the stove till the paraffin melts. First make sure the cork is in your bottle good and tight and then up-end the bottle and dip the end of the bottle with the cork in the melted paraffin. Take it out and let it cool hard. Another way is to take a paintbrush and, layer by layer, paint the melted paraffin on the cork and the top of the bottle. I don't know about the above being a good remedy for diarrhea but it sure sounds tasty. The directions for use are: For adults, take one wineglass full, and for kids give them a half of a glass. This remedy should be taken three times a day. What the directions don't say is how far apart the doses should be taken. But as delicious as it sounds I wouldn't be surprised if after the first dose the inflicted would be inclined to go ahead and down the second dose right away, possibly soon followed by the third dose. Of course, after three quick doses one may not be too certain if one day has passed or not into the second day. Now, the patient very well may decide that the day has passed, or something else has passed, and therefor moves on to the second days' three doses. If all this transpires the patient may find himself, or herself, upon rising on the actual second day acutely afflicted with a severe headache. If a headache is now to be cured take one spoonful of powdered charcoal and mix it with molasses. Wash this down with a glass of raw rum or gin. This is also recommended for preventing a headache. So if you know one is coming on, or think it might, or if there is the barest and slightest chance of a headache lurking in the near or far future this medicine should have you perky in no time.
