Each time I view these vineyards that start at the Tannus Hillsides and flow down to the Rhine’s edge, I marvel at how they are planted, maintained and harvested because of the steep angle. And, every time I think about the laborious process—from planting the vines, waiting for them to mature, and relying on the whimsical weather to make them grow (as well as getting them harvested), I am amazed. And that’s just the growing process. Then there’s the whole art of winemaking.
But sip a glass of Riesling and you’ll see that the Germans winegrowers certainly know what they’re doing. And it’s nice to know that Riesling is about to receive the popularity it so richly deserves.
