Are you looking for a new party idea with an international theme? Here are some innovative, yet easy, ways to help you set the scene for an April in Paris celebration.
Play CD of George Gershwin’s “An American in Paris.” Check out some recordings of French folk songs from your library. Decorate your table with alternating clusters of red and white grapes. Use long, slender French baguettes as part of your table décor. Break a loaf or two in half to add a casual touch. (After dinner, you can put the bread in the food processor, add some dried herbs, and transform the loaves into your own low-fat, yet delicious, bread crumbs.) For a bistro look, use the classic blue and white checked material as a tablecloth, placemats, and napkins. Tie a cloth around your wine bottle. Set small pots of herbs in front of each place setting. Decorate with red, white, and blue streamers and tourist maps of France. Check local import stores for inexpensive French art posters.
