Accommodations:

Salzburg offers a wide range of accommodations from its top, five-star category, to moderate-class hotels, and family-run inns. The Hotel Schloss Mönchstein, situated on top of the Mönchsberg, is "Salzburg's only 5-Star Castlehotel," ( http://www.monchstein.at ). Its historic ambiance offers a stay that's out of a fairy tale. A member of the Relais & Châteaux group, the Castle was also awarded the "American Gold Star for Quality, as "one of the 100 best country hotels in Europe."

The Hotel Auersperg ( http://www.auersperg.at ), offers a friendly setting, reasonably priced accommodations, and a chance to stay in a more residential neighborhood.

Dining - The Café Winkler, next to Fortress Hohensalzburg, offers dining with a spectacular view of the city. For coffee and pastries, visit coffeehouses such as the Sacher Café, internationally famous for its Sacher Torte, or Café Tomaselli, Salzburg's oldest coffeehouse.

You can enjoy food and entertainment at the elegant Mozart Dinner Concert in the Baroque Hall in the Stifskeller St. Peter Restaurant (since 803), while the K+K Restaurant near the Salzburg Cathedral, offers Austrian delicacies in another historic setting. Tucked away throughout the city, there are small restaurants such as the Stadtkrug on Linzer Gasse, which offers delicious hand-crafted food at very reasonable prices in a quiet, romantic setting.

The Salzburg Plus Card offers "All Inclusive" Visiting. With the Salzburg Plus Card, simply select the price category of three-, four-, or five-stars, and then hotels, meals, city transportation, admissions and coffee breaks are covered. Just show your card, without worrying about currency or exchange rates.

Getting there - Located in Central Europe, Salzburg is about an hour from Vienna by air or a scenic 3 1/2 hour train ride.
