Treat Dad to a Progressive Dinner

It's Dad's Day, and you want to take him out to dinner. But where should you go? A great place to start, of course, is by searching the Intenet; you'll find many options for a terrific Father's Day feast.

Actually, there are in fact too many options - because you probably want to go to many of these restaurants for this special celebration. How do you narrow them down?

Since it's Dad's day, you'll want to consider his tastes of course, and select something that you know he will enjoy. So, that's easy, you simply select a restaurant that features food he really likes. But it's also fun to surprise Dad and treat him to a new place that he hasn't been before. So, why not also select a restaurant which features a type of cuisine which you think he will like - although he may not be familiar with it as yet?

If he's like most Dads, he definitely likes desserts, too. So why not take him to a restaurant that features decadent endings to a meal?

Now, wait a minute! It sounds as if I have suggested three restaurants; is this true? Precisely! This year, make Dad's day really special by treating him to a "Progressive Dinner Party" and go from one restaurant to another to extend the celebration. After all, he is a great Dad!

Go to one restaurant that you think he might like for appetizers. This would be a great opportunity to try out something new. Even if he doesn't fall in love with Thai stir-fry (for example), you always have the rest of the progressive dinner still in store for him.

Next, take him to another restaurant for the entrée. Choose food he really likes. Maybe your Dad really enjoys good pasta. Maybe he likes expertly prepared steak. Or, perhaps, he would prefer to be treated to an exotic and delicious sushi dinner. There are countless places to go for great dining.

Finally, wind up at a third restaurant for a dessert feast and coffee or after-dinner drinks. To make it even more fun, keep your culinary destinations a surprise. I bet your Dad - and everyone who goes along - will enjoy this so much that it could become a family tradition. But you don't have to limit these progressive dinner parties to Father's Day. It's an appropriate celebration for any special occasion-or just as a way to enjoy yourself. After a hard day at work, you - and Dad - deserve it.
