Intra-Venus is the new project of Mark Tansley(ex-Suspiria), now together with a new vocalist. The idea is much the same as with Suspiria, Mark Tansley does the guitar and the programming while the vocalist writes the lyrics, so the impression one gets is that this is Suspiria with a new vocalist. Wether this is the case or not could probably be discussed a little too long, while it feels impossible not to compare Intra-Venus to Suspiria. While Intra-Venus is obviously more based around electronics than Suspiria, the synth-lines get annoying sometimes, the opening track "(Welcome to) Paradise" is a good example of that. The guitars role in the music has been pushed back even more, to leave place for synthetic sounds that makes me think "This is not finished." Somehow the magic of Suspiria has been lost somewhere along the road, and the album gets boring after a few songs. I miss Matthew's characteristic vocals, and while there are a few catchy songs, I strongly doubt that Intra-Venus will be even half as popular as Suspira. Still it could be interesting to watch what this will develop into. Sven Johansson
