If your left arm feels as though it folds up like a cheap accordion through the impact zone, or feels short and weak, the Split Grip Drill is telling you that your left arm is too rigid. This is a feel often encountered by those who customarily slice the ball. Try playing with a soft left arm. You might also focus on keeping the upper left arm in contact with your chest. That's what happens when it folds during a Split Grip Swing.

You get the idea. Listen carefully to what the drill is telling you, and work on it. The goal is to have your normal golf swing and the split grip drill feel identical. Not similar, but identical.

One further note: On the off chance that you do feel a slight hitch or awkward phase while performing the drill, remember to involve your body. Balance on the right leg at the top of the backswing, balance on the left leg (with your navel facing the target) when you are done.
