Canadian Goose Song

Last month I threw down the gauntlet and asked my readers to invite me to their favorite golf course (or their least favorite) and I would play a round of golf with them and then evaluate the course for myself and write an article on the process. To date over one thousand five hundred people have looked at my article but not one person has accepted my offer. I joked and said if any professionals such as Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, Ernie Els and Michelle Wie were to tune in to my articles I wanted them to describe both their favorite and least favorite. I mentioned a few courses that are on the PGA tour but I should not have limited myself to just that tour. I apologize to the players of the Nike tour, the Nationwide tour, the European tour and any of the Asian tours. I did not intend to slight you in any way.

As I said there has not been a single response to this request and because of complications arising here at Suite101.com I may not be able to continue this article after the month of October. Suite101.com is being revamped and I do not know if I will be invited back to continue my articles which will shift from once a month to once a week. If I am asked to continue my articles I will not only be writing Golf With a Smile but my topics will also include the PGA tour, the LPGA tour, golf in general and many other non-humorous golf topics.

I named this article the Canadian Goose Song because I have yet to see a swan on a golf course. I have seen flamingos down in Florida, bald eagles in Alaska, Canadian geese everywhere but nary a swan. Because of this it would not be fair to call what might possible be my last article my "Swan Song".

If I am not invited back (even if I am) I want all who read my articles to know how much I have enjoyed writing for you and about you. To all of the parents with youngsters who are learning the game and to whom I have talked I want you to know I fully intended to write an article about your responses to my probing question, "Why are you out here teaching your child how to play this game?" If I continue with my articles you can be assured there are at least two articles alone on these parental responses.
