Ready Golf Part DeuxNow you are off the tee onto the fairway and you have gone directly to your ball. Rule number 4 deals with the fairway protocol. You will have paid attention to yardage markers and wind conditions as you went to your ball. If you have to leave your bag when you go to your ball you should carry 3 clubs: the one you think you are going to use, one shorter and one longer, along with an additional ball in your pocket in case you need to hit a provisional. Once at your ball determine who is going to hit and then communicate this to the other players if they have not already announced this determination. Watch every shot and follow the ball flight just as you did on the tee and be prepared to hit your ball when it is your turn.
We are now moving along quite well and the game is all the more enjoyable because there have not been any unusual delays. Next month I will address around the green and on the green. These are known as rules 5 and 6.
Keep swinging.
