The Alphabet Series: what it is

© eve

Dear Readers,

I got an epiphany in class the other day (Which is good, because I'm getting absolutely NOTHING else out of that class, and no, I won't tell you which one. The last thing I need is another teacher breathing down my neck about something I wrote).

Why not write a series of articles based on letters of the alphabet?

First of all, it would make me think, which could only be good for me. I'll admit, I've been reaching for a topic lately. I know I haven't exhausted GLBT topics, but at times it feels like I have. There hasn’t been much GLBT related news lately (a bit related with the recent September 11th tragedy, but not much), and I’d rather not comment on the Ellen show (which I haven’t seen, but seems to have disappointed viewers and fans—“Normal, Ohio”, anyone?)

It took a bit of thinking, but I came up with a topic for every letter of the alphabet (OK, sometimes I was reaching a bit, but give me credit—X and Z were pretty difficult. But I plan to work my way through the next 26 weeks, from Asexuality to Zest for Life (unless I come up with a better “Z”)

Here’s a tentative list of topics (subject to change):

Asexuality
Bisexuality
Crossdressing
Depression
Education/Ernie, Bert and Tinky-Winky: Are they or aren't they?
Feminism
Gender
Homosexuality and Psychology
Intersexed
Jokes
Kaffecklatch (Online Support)
Lesbian
Masculinity/Marriage and Homosexuality
Non-Monogamy
Others (Parents, Friends)
Pride
Queer
Relationships/Religion and Homosexuality
Separatism/Stonewall
Transgender
University (gay-friendly schools)
Verbal Discourse (coming out)
Women/Womyn
Xx/Xy
Youth
Zest for Life

If you have any suggestions/comments, please let me know. If you come up with a better topic for a specific letter, I’d love to hear it. Just give me at least a week in advance (i.e., if you think of a great topic starting with the letter “D”, let me know at least right after “C” comes out)

The topic on Asexuality will be out in 3 days, if not sooner (I’m working on it now, and trust me, writing two articles simultaneously is getting confusing).

I hope you find some, if not all, of my suggestions interesting—and stay tuned! I expect some interesting discussions in the next 26 weeks.

Before I go, I’d like to invite you to check out this outstanding personal webring I stumbled across: Sorry Boys, I'm Gay. It’s a group of sites from lesbian and bisexual women all over the globe, with personal stories, artwork and amazing insight from some exceptional young women.

Signing off…

Hello, my favorite Beatle fan!

If you don't like Zest for Z, you can always get heady and philosophical and go with Zeitgeist. ;-)

I think doing a topic for every letter is a great idea-- kind ...
