I got an extreme shock the other day.
Someone actually emailed me with this comment: "I'm 15, and I'm a lesbian. My girlfriend and I heard about something called a "dental dam" the other day. Why would women need any sort of barrier? After all, lesbians can't catch AIDS or anything, and they can't get pregnant, so why bother?" How many people actually think that women can't transmit STDs? If that was true, then that would mean only gay sexual activity could result in any type of STD. I guess that's where they came up with the "AIDS is a gay thing" idea. I shouldn't be so surprised...after all, in high school, some of the girls would drink tomato juice after all sexual encounters (this was supposed to prevent pregnancy, as well as vodka, or standing on your head). Safer sex myths have always been floating around in hallways, chat rooms, etc. I did a little searching, and found a fairly large amount of information very quickly. So there's no excuse for saying, "I didn't know." This is too important NOT to know about. Well Sexy Women "In Well Sexy Women you will see a frank presentation of the practicalities and sensuality of safer sex in today's threatening world." This is a video (not pornongraphy, although the blurb does imply eroticism). Just Say Yes "Nobody has a body to die for." Lesbian Safer Sex Describes what isn't risky, what is possibly risky, and what is very risky. Sexuality.org "The goal of this guide is to give people of all genders, orientations, and preferences the information they need to perform a wide variety of sexual acts safely, pleasurably, and comfortably.". You must be over 18 to look at this site, and it warns you that "that this guide uses more sophisticated vocabulary and covers more material than most safer sex brochures; people who find this guide to be at all overwhelming might be better served by some of the simpler and more direct documents produced by mainstream STD prevention and public health organizations." How Safe is Oral Sex? It seems no one can decide if oral sex is a high-risk or low-risk activity, but it isn't risk-free. Also, make sure you you stop by these sites at About.com. Not only do they contain safer sex information, but you can chat with other people about your concerns. Each site has a "Guide" that is more than happy to answer your questions. Or you can always email me and if I don't know the answer, I'll find it for you. Go To Page: 1 2
