Freedom Village,Freedom Village

Freedom Village,

We had a very surprising presentation at our school the other day. It was a group of teenagers who had been drug dealers, criminals and just about any negative thing you can name. The astonishing part though, was that they had turned their lives around and had shown that even a criminal can turn into a talented person.

These teens were from all over the United States. Many had ADD and had had trouble in school. Many others had come from bad homes and been adopted by numerous foster families. One was a white boy with a southern accent who had been in gangs since the age of ten. He had done drugs and crimes and lost all family contact. When he came to freedom village, however, he was able to get his highschool diploma and do some traveling.

Another girl had come from South Africa. Her parents were constantly fighting during her childhood, and she had tried to commit suicide on many occasions. This girl had done hard drugs. And yet here she was, completely turned around at Freedom village. Another boy had been an alcoholic before his mother sent him to freedom village. He has since turned his life around. There were many other teens there who had similar stories. They all seemed to be full of joy to have found their new lives. They all seemed to have thought that they “had it all” before coming to Freedom Village, but have since realized that they did not have anything.

One of the most amazing parts of the presentation was when these teens sang. They all have extremely good voices. Dressed so professionally, and with so much talent, it was impossible to decipher their past lives. It was a very enlightening experience. Teens like these are living proof that everyone of us has talent, and it is only a matter of letting it shine through, or of hiding deep in our darker side.

This group accepts students who are ready for a change in their lifestyle. It helps them to become better citizens and to give themselves a future. Freedom village also accepts phone calls from distraught teens who have to make difficult decisions. They have an online web site that allows students to look up information on the organization. Anyone interested or who is concerned about a friend is welcome to look up the organization or to give them a call. http://www.freedomvillageusa.com/noyouca... 1-800-VICTORY (842-8679).
