Is there a reason for dreaming of those who've passed on? Some believe that dreams are often an opportunity for us to communicate with the dead. But what, if anything are they trying to tell us?
An acquaintance I'll call Harold told me this story of his older brother who served in the Viet Nam war. One morning Harold's mother woke and said she'd dreamed of her older son standing in a meadow. Later she walked into his bedroom and saw him slumped in his favorite chair. Without thinking she commanded him to "sit up straight" at that moment the image of her son vanished leaving her with a terrible sense of foreboding. Before the week was out the family received word that the young man had lost his life while trying to save that of a pal. I've known a number of people who claim to have had warning dreams from beyond. One in particular is that of a woman who's long dead father appeared at her bedside table and urged her not to drive to work the next morning. Not generally a believer in the supernatural, she nonetheless decided to call in that day. It was a wise decision. If she'd driven her usual route on the freeway that morning she might have been one of those killed in the 16-car pile up caused by dense fog. Have you ever stayed in a motel and found yourself tossing and turning most of the night? With so many people sleeping in them night after night, motel rooms are bound to be full of energy. I've a friend who stayed at a small roadside inn in northern California a few years ago. Everything was fine until she woke from a bad dream only to see a young blonde girl staring down at her. "How did you get in here?" She asked sleepily. Then raising up she watched awestruck as the girl vanished through the front door. Try as she might, there was no more sleep for her that night. Next morning she questioned the manager who finally admitted that a ghost occasionally haunted the inn's rooms. It seems a girl was murdered in the area and her spirit often roamed that part of the interstate. The girl's killer was never caught. Could it be that the ghost was trying to help solve her own murder? Or was she merely trapped on this earthly plane with no idea how to move on? That would be my guess. Go To Page: 1 2
