Ghost Lecture and Orb Shots

Ghost Lecture and Orb Shots

The other night my family and I decided to attend the ghost lecture at a haunted hotel. It was great fun. Hearing about ghosts always is. But what really struck me about the lecture was the fact that so many people are hesitant to admit that they believe in ghosts, much less that they've actually seen a ghost.

Many of the speaker's stories were prefaced thus, "The person who told me this doesn't want me to make any reference to identity."

Certainly there are a number of reasons why this could be so. Perhaps the person doesn’t want to be bombarded with ghost seekers, curiosity seekers, or simply doesn't want to be considered strange. Although I can understand each of the above reasons, what I wouldn't have given to know whose houses were being referred to as haunted by rather mischievous ghosts. There's no way around it. Privacy must always be respected. I drowned my curiosity with a couple of diet cokes and waited for intermission, when I could sneak upstairs to the original part of the building where two ghosts are rumored to reside. Armed with my new Sony Mavica, I was anxious and on the lookout for orbs.

A ghost hunting buddy accompanied me upstairs and between the two of us we snapped a couple dozen shots. She informed me where she thought the ghosts might be. Unfortunately I didn't get a single orb shot where she directed me to shoot. But all was not lost. I was able to get two distinct orbs in the room where the lecture was being given. When the lecture was over we bundled up and headed for the car. Winter nights are cold in the Sierras so no one was overly enthusiastic when I insisted we stop short of the car just long enough for me to get some photos of the Christmas tree and the outside of the building. Something told me this would be my best chance of catching any spirits that happened to be hanging around. I clicked away, thankful that I am fortunate to have such an understanding family.

My feelings were right on. When I got home and checked the disc, I discovered that I'd gotten a pretty good photo of orbs encircling the outdoor Christmas tree. Now, some may scoff and say that these anomalies aren't ghosts at all, but are instead; dirt, condensation, bugs and pixel displacement. If that is the case, why are there so many orbs being photographed at haunted spots? Could it be that there's something to the ghost photographers' claims that orbs are ghost and spirits?
