Edith Ann and The Haunted Antique ShopDid you ever wonder if our very possessions are haunted? There are psychics who can get very strong readings simply by touching the personal belongings of someone. Often the psychic will indicate correctly whether or not the individual is alive. For this reason, I believe that it's possible for antiques and other items to be haunted by previous owners. My friend Edith Ann would surely agree. Years ago Edith Ann decided she could make a comfortable living by taking over a thriving antiques business in an older shopping center. If anyone could make a successful leap from gainfully employed to small business owner, she could. She had the knowledge, the drive, and more importantly, the down payment, the seller required. Once the business was officially hers, Edith Ann cleaned and polished every item in the store. The crystal and the carnival glass sparkled, the silver shined, and the fine old furniture was reflective as any mirror. The spurt of new owner pride continued, so she rearranged everything in her shop. After a few weeks Edith Ann found herself in the doldrums. Not a single person had come through the door since she took over the business. One rainy morning a young couple dashed into the store and smiled at Edith Ann. "Where's the old lady?" The woman asked. Puzzled, Edith Ann stared blankly at her. "The lady who sits in the rocking chair," the woman explained. Edith Ann turned and looked at the empty cane rocker that sat in her store window. "Nobody sits in the rocker." She said softly. "I see her rocking and in that window every morning." The woman insisted. Edith Ann smiled silently. The young woman was obviously mixed up. "Looks like the rain's let up," the man said taking the young woman's hand. "Lets go." The woman frowned at Edith Ann and asked, "Don't you realize that she's not very happy sitting in the window?" Without another word the couple walked out. They were no sooner out the door then Edith Ann heard the sound of soft chuckling. She looked around and decided it was only the wind. Over the next month customers started to come into the shop. When many of them commented on the woman in the window Edith Ann decided it was time to do something. But what? Her answer came when a little girl wandered into the store. "Why don't you move her chair out of the window?" The child demanded. "There is no one sitting in the window!" Edith Ann answered.
