Ghostly ChildrenWhenever I watch children playing outdoors in the warm sunshine I can't help but feel a pang of sadness for all the ghostly little children who died long before their time. Tragically, many of these kids remain on this earthly plane simply because they're confused, and don't really know what else to do. One such ghost is that of Mark Twain's niece, Jennie Clemmens, who died in 1864 at the ripe old age of 9. Her death so devastated her parents that they determined never to have another child. Young Jennie is buried in the Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City Nevada. But, over the years her smiling little spirit has been seen many times in and around the home she lived and died in. Little Evelyn was a curious toddler who lost her life when she got on the wrong side of a miner's pick axe near Bodie. The little girl is buried in the Bodie Cemetery and has been spotted several times since her untimely demise. In Hollywood, the Vogue theatre stands on the spot where an elementary school once stood. One day a terrible fire broke out at the school and several children lost their lives inside the burning building. These students are believed to be the playful ghosts that haunt the theatre. The laughter and singing of ghostly children can sometimes be heard in the Fourth Ward School Museum in Virginia City, Nevada. Also haunting Virginia City is the specter of a little girl who was killed on C. Street by a team of runaway horses over a century ago. Occasionally, the ghost child skips down the street, happily unaware that she's managed to frighten more than one tourist in the process. There's a toy store near San Jose that's been featured many times on true ghost documentaries. Apparently a young boy died very near the site of the store and his ghost enjoys nothing better than to spend his time, testing out all the toys. He's a bit of a pest because he's been known to leave toys scattered about the store late at night when no one else is around. Then there's the ghost of a little girl who is thought to have been the victim of a long ago hit and run accident on a busy street in Reno. She resides at a small motel and doesn't mean any harm. She is only looking for someone to play with and has been known to wake the children of guests late at night.
