Hopefully you have your shopping behind you. Now that the packages are mailed, and the stockings are hung by the chimney with care, you're able to relax and really enjoy the holidays. If there is a better way to enjoy the season than with a good book, I don't know it. Curled up by the fireplace, hot chocolate on the side table, and a book of ghostly tales. Ah, this is the life.
So what is the reader of ghost books reading this season? Anything by Troy Taylor is sure to be entertaining and sometimes scary. A prolific writer, Troy just keeps on cranking 'em out. And they are good. One of my favorites is No Rest For the Wicked. This book chronicles the history and hauntings of some of our nations most horrific, unsolved crimes. If the creepy characters in these stories don't set your nerves on edge, nothing will. Another writer well worth reading is Laurie Jacobson. Laurie's Hollywood Haunted is a classic of movie star ghosts and hauntings. Having lived in Hollywood and worked in the industry, Laurie knows her stuff. You might say she mingles with the stars. And it shows. Her latest offering is Dishing Hollywood, a book of stories and recipes. Yummy, this one sounds like fun. For those of you who want to dig into something technical and have fun doing it, grab a copy of Tom and Lisa Butler's There is No Death and there Are No Dead. The Butlers are the directors of the American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena, and have spent many years in the field. Their book is a fascinating look at EVP its pioneers and stories of their field research. Look for lots of fascinating information and stories in the classics as well. Think of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. This is one the best ghost stories around. And it doesn't even take place at Halloween! Prefer true adventures? Harry Price's Confessions of a Ghost Hunter is an excellent choice for the collector of ghost books. If you do a lot of reading online you don't want to miss Ghost Magazine an ezine devoted to all things ghostly, interviews, stories, columns, photos, and more. Of course some of us also enjoy watching our ghostly movies. In keeping with the season, I suggest A Christmas Carol. You'll have plenty of versions to choose from at the video store. Sixth Sense, What Lies Beneath and Ghost are other movies worth watching again. The Christmas season and ghosts, how can you go wrong? If you plan on heading to the theater Eddie Murphy's Haunted Mansion looks like a sure fire hit. Go To Page: 1 2
