Vitamin A is like a shield and sword against Cancer. It has tremendous powers of resistance and defense; it should be no surprise to learn that vitamin A is one of our most potent weapons against cancer. Yet as important as it is, it has received little attention in the so-called War on Cancer.
As far back as 1978, the National Center for Health Statistics released figures which, in the words of Robert Hadsell, an official of the National Cancer Institute, "end the suggestion last year that the overall cancer rate might be dropping." He attributed the overall increase in mortality rates that far back to "the large increase of deaths from respiratory cancers (mainly lung cancer) among women." Dr. Warner Winkelstein, dean of the School of Public Health, University of California at Berkeley, also said this biggest cancer killer of men "will shortly become the biggest killer of women." It now is. This same governmental organization, the National Cancer Institute had proof in the 1970’s, from experiments around the world, and its own scientists, that vitamin A protects against this very form of cancer. One exact example was reported in the International Journal of Cancer, back in 1975 when the National Cancer Institute and the Norwegian Cancer Society undertook a five-year study. In it 8,278 Norwegian men were carefully observed to see if there was any relationship between their intakes of vitamin A and lung cancer. Smoking habits and other environmental factors were considered. Two thirds of the group consumed relatively large amounts of vitamin A; the rest didn't. At the end of five years, results showed that this latter group, the men lacking in vitamin A, had developed far more cancers. The report states: A lower lung-cancer rate in those with the high values of vitamin A index is seen in all age groups, and in both urban and rural residents. If finding as far back as the 1970’s conclude this proof, do the present findings also agree? Yes. Vitamin A active compounds or some closely associated dietary factors modify the expression of pulmonary carcinogens. Vitamin A plays a major role in maintaining the integrity of the lining of the respiratory and digestive tracts, and enhances immunity, as it neutralizes free radicals and so prevents them from causing their damages of Cancer. Where do we suggest you find your Vitamin A? It is found naturally in animal sources, such as liver, fish liver oils, eggs, dairy products, deep green leafy vegetables, yellow-orange fruits and vegetables. Go To Page: 1 2
