Before the war ended, Bill had won a Pulitzer prize for his depictions of the soldiers he worked with. After the war, he continued as an editorial cartoonist at several newspapers, winning one more Pulitzer along the way. Mauldin is now eighty years old. He lives in a nursing home in Orange County, California and is approaching the end of his life.
