A Quarter for Crazy Eddie by Will Murray This was an unusual story. The narrator happened to be the villain. He first mentioned why he turned to a life of crime. He said he was told that he could make more money robbing people than he could by working at a job. He would work in a place for three months, and then he would rob them. After that, he would go to Vegas. The narrator called himself Carl Shaner. In order to impress people, he would embellish his resume. He was determined to get a job for at least three months. That was his usual time for him to work at a job. However, his present job was not that long. After the interview with Salwak, who was the boss of Dyna Corporation, Salwak hired Carl. He worked downstairs in the loading area. Carl became acquainted with the setup, the security alarm system, where the keys were kept, and other important things that would help him break in later. The first day, they ordered pizza. Crazy Eddie came by with the pizza and demanded quarters from each one. However, Carl gave Crazy Eddie a half dollar instead. Crazy Eddie threw it on the ground and demanded a quarter. Carl finally gave him a quarter. Crazy Eddie didn't know that much about money, but he knew that a quarter would buy him a candy bar. That's why he wanted quarters. The day came when Carl planned on his burglary. He left the door unlocked and returned later. He picked up the things that he wanted to steal and walked out to his car. However, he heard footsteps and ran off. Someone caught up with him, but who? Was it the police? Was it Crazy Eddie? Who? You'll have to read the story to find out what happened to Carl. This story, which was told by the villain, is considered a caper story. Caper stories have the elements of unusual characters and humorous incidents. One of the humorous incidents was what happened with Crazy Eddie. He only wanted quarters. If someone, like Carl, gave him a different coin, he would throw it on the ground and demand a quarter.
