This is a book review of Chalking It Up by Stephanie Bavaro. This was a great book. Once you start reading it, you will have a difficult time putting it down. You want to know what is going to happen with Heather Hall and Regan Gallagher.
Heather and Regan enjoyed doing things together, especially taking bottled water that was for the students who attended their company's courses, taking two hour lunch breaks to watch videos in a conference room, wearing inappropriate shoes, and other types of things that would normally get them fired. After Emily, their boss, was fired, they had another boss whom they were afraid of at times. His name was Sayeed. He was strict. The girls had to be careful of their activities because he watched them. They had to plan things differently. They had to make sure when they left early, they would leave by a door where Sayeed wouldn't see them. If they came in late, they had to make sure they weren't seen at that time. Throughout the book, the girls did different things that should have gotten them into trouble and fired, but they weren't fired. At times they are transferred from one building to another, but they managed to stay together. One day, a few people were being fired. However, Heather and Regan were not fired. Heather wanted to be, but when her boss confronted her about her attitude of not being fired, she changed her mind and said she didn't want to be let go. Later on, Heather's new boss, Sayeed, called her into the office. He told her that she was no longer needed in the company. Heather signed the necessary agreement papers and was to be paid two months severance pay. After that, she went to her area and told Regan that she was fired. Regan couldn't believe it. She thought Heather was teasing her. When Regan realized that Heather was serious, she entered Sayeed's office and let him have it. Heather packed up her things and walked out. The next day, she stayed home with her children. During the day, she called Regan. They decided to eat lunch together the next day. Heather said that she would have her children with her, but it didn't matter to Regan. She wanted to meet with Heather. Go To Page: 1 2
