This is a book review of the sixth book in the series titled W. I.T.C.H. by Elizabeth Lenhard. This book is "Illusions and Lies." This book was just as good as all of the others in the series. If you have enjoyed reading the other books, you will like this one, too.
The author starts out in the first chapter by reviewing a few facts about the five girls who are transformed at times into magical beings with powers. These beings are Guardians of the Veil, which is a cosmic barrier that separates Metamoor and earth. Metamoor is the land of the evil doers, and earth is the home of the good people. The girls were assigned to close every portal that had opened between Metamoor and earth. However, their job was very difficult at times because evil monsters kept appearing through the portals. As a result, they had to fight the evil monsters and protect the Veil and earth. These monsters were people they had known and thought were good people, but they have been finding out throughout this series of books that some of these good people or friends were monsters. In Chapter Two, the girls were in class. Their teacher was Mr. Collins. Will mentioned to Cornelia that every time she was near Mr. Collins, she had the same kind of feeling that she gets when she's around a portal or a monster from Metamoor. Could Mr. Collins be a monster from Metamoor like their other teacher was in a previous book? Maybe he's pretending to be Mr. Collins? If he's pretending to be the real Mr. Collins, where is the real one? Chapter Two is where suspense starts to build in the story. Readers find out who Mr. Collins is. In the next chapter, Will is upset and ditches school, which is the first time she had done that. She was hurt because her friends didn't believe what she was saying about Mr. Collins. She knew he was evil and from Metamoor. The other girls weren't sure. Will began to feel like she wasn't a part of the Guardians. She also wished that she and her mother hadn't moved to Heatherfield. She didn't want to come there, but her mother did. Her mother's boy friend was also Mr. Collins. Are Will's mother and Will in danger? Is the Mr. Collins whom her mother is dating the one Will thinks is from Metamoor? Is there another Mr. Collins, the real Mr. Collins? He is the real Mr. Collins the one who is dating Will's mother? What is going to happen to Will and her mother? Are the other Guardians going go on their own and leave Will out of the group? Will she turn back to them? Go To Page: 1 2
