This is a book review of the "Silent Partner" by Stephen Frey. This is an excellent book. It starts out with a prologue which introduces Angela Day and Sally Chambers. They are close friends. One difference between the two is that Angela is white and Sally is black. Sally is held captive at a party they attended. Sally is knocked against the window and falls out onto the ground.

After reading the prologue, I was hooked into the story. It was suspenseful and I wondered what was going to happen next. When I started reading chapter one, it stated one specific point - Risk versus return. What can be lost versus what can be gained. This statement showed me that was the theme of the book.

After that, it talked about Angela's choices. Her risks in her personal life were not the right decisions. She had to learn to make the right choices.

Later on, Angela went to see Jake Lawrence. However, she wasn't sure she met him. Sometimes there was an imposter. They way to know was his body guard. If he was there, the man was Jake. If the wasn't there, then the man was an imposter.

Angela had a bad marriage and lost custody of her son. Her ex-husband had him most of the time, but Jake Lawrence was so powerful that he wanted to help Angela gain more custody of him so that she could see her son more often. What is Jake Lawrence's motive? Why is he wanting to help her? Does Angela get to see her son more often?

Suspense also builds in the relationship between Angela and her ex-husband. He was remarried, but he began wanting Angela back. Will that happen? Will they become a family again? What caused them to separate in the beginning? Who was behind their break-up? What is his motive now for wanting Angela back? You will have to read the book to find out what happens.

Throughout the book, suspense continues to build. Angela's life was threatened, but she managed to escape the first experience. She felt like she could trust John Tucker, but could she? Was he her true friend? Did he have a motive behind wanting to get to know her? After meeting Jake Lawrence the first time, she began to believe she could trust him, too, but could she? . She doesn't know whom she can trust. Suspense continues to build with the people around her as she develops the relationships. Whom can she trust?
