Book Review of Prodigal Child by E. David MoultonIf you enjoy music and reading about the life of a singer and guitar player, you will enjoy reading this book. The main character is Eddie Conner. I felt sorry for Eddie as he told his story. His father abused him and his mother. When Eddie was eight years old, his father taught him how to fight back. As a result of his father teaching him about fighting, Eddie ended up in all kinds of trouble. In the beginning of the book, Eddie was singing in the church choir. Later on, Eddie started going to a different school. His music teacher wanted him to try out for the choir at St. Paul's Church. He was accepted. He went to his former pastor to tell him the news. He was excited for Eddie. He also told Eddie he would miss him. Eddie didn't understand. He thought he could attend both church choirs. He found out he couldn't be in both services at the same time. Later on, Eddie was in a fight and kicked out of the choir. He was allowed to return to his former church. He stayed there for a year until his voice started changing. Eddie had two friends, George and Roger. However, both of them got into trouble and were arrested. That was difficult for Eddie because he felt alone. One day, he started dating. While he was waiting for his date, a former classmate, who had been the school bully, was a policeman. He approached Eddie and told him to leave the area. Eddie tried to tell him he wasn't doing anything wrong. He was waiting for his date. The policeman started attacking Eddie. Eddie fought back and injured the policeman. When Eddie saw his girl friend, he went to her. They left to go on their date. When Eddie returned home, he saw a police car parked out front. He was cuffed and hauled off to prison. He was given two years probation. He also had to see a psychiatrist for counseling. Eddie's problems didn't stop. Throughout the book, Eddie tried to do the right thing, but the policeman (Bobby Johnson) or teenagers started attacking Eddie and caused Eddie to fight back. Time passed and Eddie was released from prison again. He got a job working in a company. There, he met Julie. Eddie and Julie started dating and eventually became engaged. They were happy being together. Now, you'll have to read the book to see if they were married or what happened to Eddie. Did he stay out of trouble, or was he continually arrested? Did he marry Julie?
