There is nothing more frustrating, than the mess my genealogy notes get into. Slips of paper fall out of my folder. Then, I find myself flipping through stacks of notes to find the one I want. Maybe, it reflects my unruly family; for genealogy has become my way of trying to make them more tidy.
At last, I'm making some progress. The charts, graphs, and forms I've found on the Internet have helped my notes take an organized shape. I now have a research log; so I can remember where I found what. At my fingertips are all the family group sheets and pedigree charts that are indispensable for keeping my family straight. The best part is that they are sitting there on the Internet, ready for me to copy onto my printer. Here's where they can be found. At Heritage Quest, you will find a pedigree chart and a family group sheet. Another family group sheet and pedigree chart is at BYU's Ancestors Charts and Records. They, also, have a research log, timeline, and a family information checklist. Then, at Family Treemaker, you will find a correspondence table, and another research log. If you have trouble composing letters, they have form letters to use when writing for genealogical information. And, they have abstracts for census records, which are great organizational tools. I hope these forms will help. Next week, I will point the way to some great magazines, newsletters, and Email that will help you keep updated on the latest news in family searches. Until then, good luck getting organized. :-D Go To Page: 1
