Family History Centers

There are over 3,000 Family History Centers around the world. Most likely, one close to you. These are branches of the main library in Salt Lake City, Utah. Most of the microfilm and microfiche records in Salt Lake can be ordered to use at your local FHC (Family History Center).

First, you will need to find the FHC nearest you. TheCustom Search Ancestral File Page at the familysearch.org site has a locator you can use.

For those of you unfamiliar with this resource or would like to learn more about them, there are two good sites I found that have lessons. The first is A Guide to Research part of the Family History Source Guide, at the familysearch.org site. An excellent site for newbies to the FHC.

The other is found at DearMYRTLE Lessons, scroll down on that page to the LDS Family History Center Lessons. Here you will find good basic lessons, as well as more detailed information on the FHC. Below these lessons, are some very good links to the LDS Source guide that you will want to check out.

At these two sites you will find all the information you need, whether you are a newbie or an experienced genealogist.
