Having a family tree web page is an important part of our search for lost cousins. This is even more important if you are trying to connect with a common surname. With a quick look, someone can see if they might be related to your family.
Once you have your web page up, it is time to get it noticed. Cyndi provides a list of search engines to submit it to. Many people start their surname search by using general search engines. Be sure to put the family surnames in the description. Then, there are specific genealogy sites that you can submit your web page. I have made a list of some of those, picking ones that allow you to provide a description- again list the surnames so your cousins can find you. Unless you are doing a one name study, the title of your web page won't be enough description to get effect responses. Have fun. Here's my list of web page submission sites: 1. http://distantcousin.com/guest/addguest.... - Submit Your Site to DistantCousin.com 2. http://www.familyworkings.com/form/linkf... - FamilyWorkings, Add Your Web Page to Our Links 3. http://registration.tbox.com/ - Helm's Genealogy Toolbox - Registration Central 4. http://resources.rootsweb.com/~rootslink... - RootsLink: Add URL 5. http://www.gensource.com/ifoundit/addste... - Add your genealogy URL to I Found It! 6. http://yourfamily.com/family.cgi - yourfamily.com - Family Home Pages 7. http://www.gengateway.com/listings/listi... - Genealogy Guide - Surname Homepage Listing Center (place to list is towards the bottom of the page)
