If Kindergarten Teachers Ruled the World

Given Bush's reluctance to admit the seriousness of his alcohol problem and his refusal to take responsibility for he lies he told to cover up this problem, our kindergarten teacher would probably also push Bush to do more about cleaning up his own mess. She'd probably say something like, "Dubbya, you know that you spent a great many years drinking and carrying on. You got a DWI. Stop blaming the Democrats for bringing it up. You're the one who chose to drink and drive. It's time to be honest with yourself and the world about how you hurt yourself, your family, and the random lives you damaged along the way. Now you go make amends to those people that you hurt."

And finally, when G.W. first started talking about going to war with Afghanistan, she certainly would have said, "Now Dubbya, you know that in this world, we do not hit people, no matter what they have done. Bombing a bunch of hospitals and caves in Afghanistan is not going to bring back those people in the World Trade Center, on the planes or in the Pentagon." And when G.W. starting planning the war with Iraq, I'm sure she would have said something like, "Attacking Iraq is just plain foolish. Just because your father failed to get rid of him does not mean that you have the right to blow up his country, too. Now come over here and finish your painting. The art show is next week and you have not done a thing but make a mess."

Perhaps if kindergarten teachers ruled the world instead of politicians, we wouldn't have so many problems. We'd have a lot less bullying, a lot more sharing, and fewer messes.

*** Even thought he was enrolled in what some might label some of the finest schools in the U.S. (Andover, Yale, and Harvard) records indicate that he rarely bothered to go to class and was, in general, a poor student.
