IS A CEREMONY IMPORTANT?

These clergy ended up not being punished. So it seems as if Holy Unions are becoming more accepted and more mainstream especially now that you can legally marry in Vermont. It is my hope that the rest of the states will follow suit, however we have a long way to go before actual legal marriages can take place.

Until then, you have many holy union options. If your own denomination will not perform the ceremony, go to one who will. MCC churches are very open to performing the celebrations for non members.

In the end, my partner and I view our Holy Union as an important step towards making us a true family. That commitment has kept us together through thick and thin. It has helped us to forge our space in the world and we might not still be together had we not taken that public step to proclaim our love and commitment. This may not be true for everyone else. Let us know what you think?

If you are interested in a holy union there are ways for those of any faith to achieve it. Here are some links to gay organization websites for all faiths.

Catholic Dignity Christian MCC Jewish Bet Mishpacha Beth El Binah Episcopal Integrity Oasis Mormon Affirmation Presbyterian PLGC
