HAVE THE CONSERVATIONISTS GONE TOO FAR.

This conservation lark is now getting to be something of a joke, with all the materials that we gardeners have grown up with, snatched from under our noses by bureaucrats that continue to destroy the atmosphere and deplete the ozone layer in pursuit of profit. After all why should a relaxing hobby like gardening be attacked on all fronts by people who have no idea what they are talking about?

Take moss peat for instance, you nearly have to apologise for buying a bag nowadays. Most gardening correspondents and T.V. personalities are afraid to mention the stuff. They will use everything and anything before they will mention moss peat. All kinds of concoctions have been manufactured, as a replacement for the real thing and I can tell you that there is no substitute for moss peat.

You just try growing Rhododendrons, Azaleas, or Camellias in one of the substitutes and you will soon find out. They are burning millions of tonnes of the stuff in power stations and they don't want us to buy the odd bag for the garden. They have no problem building rockets and nuclear warheads and threatening to blow us all to smithereens. Then they have the nerve to tell us we are depleting the bog lands, a natural resource. Do they intend to leave anyone alive to enjoy these preserved bogs?

What about the pollutants that is destroying the ozone layer and melting the ice caps? What is that going to do with the bog land?

Now they are taking all our pesticides away, they reckon we are not cape able of using them and that they are dangerous and carcinogenic. We can't mix our own few litres of insecticide or fungicide; we have to buy ready mixed aerosols that are twice the price and only half as effective. Pumping radioactive material into the sea and storing tonnes of plutonium is not dangerous. Not to mention the nuclear subs and rockets, they are quite safe, but an insecticide for the gardener is dangerous.

We can't even buy a few seeds without a cert. from the government. They reckon that we are going to import something that will outgrow us all, get out of control, and overrun the earth.

I have a suggestion for them; they could always kill it with a limited nuclear strike.

Will someone stop these politicos before they drive us all mad, if they are not half way there already?
