4) Keep your Christmas cactus healthy by repotting it every year. Immediately after the blooming period. These plants don't respond well to being root-bound.
5) Fertilize only during the proper times of year. You should fertilize your Christmas cactus once when tender new growth appears in the spring, and after the buds have formed every other week with a standard liquid plant fertilizer (following package directions). Do not fertilize your Christmas cactus during the resting period, or during the flower bud formation period. The Christmas cactus is a truly beautiful plant that will add some much-appreciated color to your home during the dark season. With a little understanding of its life cycle and some tender loving care, it will burst into bloom for you year after year!
