These are just a few sites to help inspire you. Other ideas include a gift certificate to a local garden center or nursery, a gift subscription for a gardening magazine, a gift certificate to a favorite mail order source, and a membership to a plant society. If Aunt Heddie is crazy for daylilies, you might want to "gift" her with a membership to the National Hemerocallis Society. No matter what, you can easily find a wonderful present to bring a smile to the face of your favorite gardener this holiday season! December "Honey-Do" List: 1. Poinsettias are perhaps the most recognized plant associated with the winter holidays. For some other choices, consider kalanchoes, cyclamens, paperwhite narcissus, Christmas cactus, and amaryllis to help make your place a little more festive this holiday season. Make sure these plants are wrapped tightly before scooting from the store to your car. Remove any foil wrap that might hold water in the pots for excessively long periods of time. 2. Continue to protect roses, if you have not already done so. 3. Continue to water before the ground freezes. Be sure to drain hoses after removing them from faucets to prevent damage to plumbing and hoses.
