Mosquitoesto control that without adding chemicals to the water and even then, it may not work. If you have birdbaths, there are tablets, such as Kleen Kill, made to kill the mosquito eggs without harming the birds or other animals. Some people swear by Bounce dryer sheets hanging on their belts or pockets. Citronella candles don't work because the smoke is harmful, and I've been bitten sitting next to one. Attract bats, birds, toads, and other insect lovers that are not harmful to the garden. Use fans in the house, mosquitoes hate the wind. You can use them on the porch too if you want. I sleep under a fan in the summer, but didn't know that it was keeping mosquitoes away. What's really weird here is that we get spiders and camel crickets in the house all the time, but I rarely see a mosquito flying in the house. I usually don't have my doors open after the sun stops shining on the porch, so maybe it's just a trick of keeping the doors and windows shut at certain times of day for indoor control. Also, you can buy Avon's Skin-So-Soft, but it's not as effective as the above-mentioned sprays. There are many plants you can use to repel them, but it's much easier to buy sprays that already contain plants such as peppermint, citrus, birch, rosemary, thyme, yarrow, chives, garlic, spearmint, menthol, geraniums, and more. Well, there you have it, my take on mosquitoes. With the death of the first West Nile virus victim in Atlanta, Georgia, not far from where I live, I have no choice but to take precautions for this pest when I am in my garden. Please be aware that it can happen to you. I wasn't expecting to get an infection from a bite since I've been bitten so many times without problems over the past 31 yrs of my life, but I did and many others have now reported problems. It's becoming an epidemic of different infections from one source. I just hope that none of the ones around here carry malaria or encephalitis and such killers. Our world is full of pitfalls, but mosquitoes can spread this stuff so fast, that we won't know what hit us until many people have died from it. Please be careful out there and take all precautions against the mosquito.
