Sissinghurst Castle - Part Ten - Page 3

Vita always longed for a tower of her own, but I have always wanted a moat - a real Medieval moat. To many people, Sissinghurst's moat may look like a drainage ditch or an irrigation canal, but for me, it is one of Sissinghurst's most romantic features. As you can see in the photographs, many of the old oaks that lined its banks survived the great storm, but it will be wonderful when the orchard is once again filled with mature fruit trees that are dripping with roses. It will be a dream reborn.
