Flower Shows
The only comment that the judges wrote about my second table arrangement is that it was "well organized". This may seem like faint praise, but the entry ticket doesn't give the judges much room for writing comments and their comment explained why they gave my table a blue ribbon. It wasn't just because it was the only entry. If they had decided that it didn't deserve a blue ribbon, they wouldn't have given it one. It might not have received a ribbon at all. Many people don't want to participate in standard flower shows because they dislike all of the rules, but I find that the limitations stimulate my creativity. When a flower show schedule pretty much says "do your own thing", I tend to be uninspired. I need a creative challenge. Winning a blue ribbon is nice, but it really only has meaning when I have done something that I haven't tried before.
