Well, it's been a month since my last article, I have been fairly busy, now with the new school year beginning. But fear not, I am changing the schedule to weekly submissions after this article. So, expect some good coverage coming up. On with SpaceWorld.
For all of you not aware of Space World, it is an annual Nintendo convention that takes place in Japan, where Nintendo previews its upcoming software and hardware it has set for its systems. Even though I could not attend Space World 2001, I was surely there in spirit. Constantly clinging to the live updates from the convention online, I noticed the star of Space World this yea was the new Nintendo console, Game Cube. However, Game Boy Advance still made its noble appearance and revealed a lot of info on some of te most anticipated games. Even some interesting hardware was announced that uleashes a new wave of power for the GBA. So here's my attempt to sommarize it all in one article. Games Fighting games Not many fighting games were released in the Game Boy era. Sure, there were some games such as Street Fighter 2 and Street Fighter Alpha that had to makes appearances, to please the crowd. Consequently, I would have never imagined Nintendo would commence to invest in fighting games. Boy was I wrong. One of the most popular genres on the GBA at the show was 2D fighting. There are some very, very impressive and confirmed titles coming out, what a relief for a fighting fan like myself. Street Fighter 2: Turbo Revival This title had aleady been announced long before Space World, and it even made its release in Japan. Im just adding it in this article so you may compare the different titles. Street Fighter 2: Turbo Revival is basically what its title insists. It's a revived classic Street Fighter 2 game, with not only special, but super moves, that includes all the characters from the Street Fighter 2 series. Yep, that includes Dee-Jay, Cammy, T.Hawk and Fei Long. The game will be released in early October in North America. Guilty Gear X This might be an uncommon fighting game for North America, but it's been a huge hit in Japan. The only handheld system this game was relased on was the Wonderswan Color's, Guilty Gear Petit. With little success on the Bandai system, the GBA version looks a lot more promissing. King of Fighters Next to the Street Fighter games, King of Fighters makes it stance. A very popular fighting game on most consoles and in the arcades, KOF for GBA looks just like the arcade versions. You might have seen thses characters in the popular, SNK vs. Capcom game for arcade and Dreamcast. Specials moves, supers and crazy combos, KOF Advance will be similar to Street Fighter, except with different faces.
