Game Boy Advance, full preview!

Welcome to the next generation of gaming. I'm sure most of you have heard about the newest piece of Game Boy hardware, Game Boy Advance. It will be an obvious improvement over the recent Game Boy Color. Although Game Boy Color has been producing and selling like crazy in the past two years, thanks to the Pokemon fad and the introduction of color to the system, Nintendo has decided to take chances and release a new, highly technological handheld gaming system, Game Boy Advance. Here is the scoop about the system and what you should expect.

Game Boy Advance is a high tech gizmo, at least from what I heard. It will be released with a 32-bit CPU, a great improvement over the 8-bit Game Boy Color one. This means, a higher processing rate, which leads to better graphic support, sound, capacity and game speed. The system will have a higher resolution than the Game Boy Color, and will still be compatible with previous systems, Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket and Game Boy Color. Unfortunately, Game Boy Advance cartridges will be of a different format, so don't expect to play them on Game Boy Color, however, regular Game Boy games will look a lot better on the GBA.

Incredibly, you can hook up four Game Boy Advances together and have a multiplayer frenzy, with only one cartridge required. Now that is the sweetest part of the system. The GBA is also changing the regular Game Boy design into Gamegear-type settings, with the action buttons and d-pad on separate sides of the screen, refer to the pictures posted. GBA will also offer an additional two L and R action buttons for the best gaming experience. To add, GBA will be released with Game Cube, which is another one of Nintendo's latest consoles, support, which means there will be more interaction within the systems, unlike the Game Boy Color and the popular N64.

An approximate sum of 40 games are pretty much ready for publishing with the system, which is due to arrive in North America, June 11, 2001. Expect to see all your favorites like Mario, in Mario Kart Advance and Mario Advance, Mega Man, Sonic, yep, Sega gave in, Hello Kitty and all the others. Also, there are a couple sweet-looking racing games coming out, which I'm really looking forward to. Anyway, GBA will offer the same great quality of gaming that all of us handheld system lovers expect, with blends of RPGs, strategy games, puzzlers, racers, side-scrollers, action games, adventure games, sports games and not introducing 3D games.
