Gameboy Color: What you need to get started: Part 1

Gameboy Color is a handheld video game system that has dominated the video game industries for years. It is the longest running video game console ever, originating in Japan, 1989. Although it makes only seldom appearances in the media, all of you must have heard of Pokemon, this system has the highest success as an entertainment system ever.

Now that you have been enlightened about Gameboy and are interested in it, I will assist you in a decision concerning what you should buy in terms of hardware and which games are the highest quality and worth the buy. The hardware section will come in the next article.

There is a wide variety of types of games on Gameboy Color, depending on what you are interested in, and your age group. Most people would usually start of with a Pokemon game, preferably the Gold and Silver versions which are the latest installments. This, in a reviewers point of view, is the most developed and entertaining game ever released on the system. Here's a simple list of what you should and shouldn't avoid for each different category of games:

1)Role Playing Game Pokemon Gold/Silver Description: Quite simple, you're a boy who collects little monsters, which are then trained to fight other monsters and trainers. There are over 250 of then collect and train. Other possibilities: Dragon Warrior 1& 2, Robopon, Daikatana adventure, Harvest Moon 2 Stay away from: Dragon Warrior Monsters, Azure Dreams

2)Fighting Game: Street Fighter Alpha Description: A basic one-on-one fighting game. Original characters include Ryu,Ken, Chun-li, Adon and Charlie. It's really fun with great controls. Other possibilities: Power Quest, X-men: Mutant Academy Stay away from: The Mortal Kombat series

3)Action: Metal Gear Solid Description: You are Solid Snake and you have to destroy Metal Gear, which is threatening to take over the world with nuclear power. This is one of the most mature, plentiful and outstandingly developed games released. Other possibilities: Cannon Fodder, Perfect Dark, Army Men 2, Zelda: A Link to the Past DX Stay away from: Battle Tanks, Army Men:Air Combat

4)Real Time Strategy: Warlocked Description: The only real, real-time strategy game that came out. It was very well made. You collect fuel and minerals so that you can build your armies. They added 27 different wizards with specific powers to aid your journey! Other possibilities: Heroes of Might and Magic 2 Stay away from: none

5)Puzzle: Tetris DX Description: Classical tetris with a few extra features including colour! Other possibilities: Pokemon Puzzle Challenge, Bust a Move Millenium Stay away from: Magical Drop, Hello Kitty Cube Frenzy
