Succubus Club West

In continuing the Game master's Online series, I am taking a look at traditional pen and paper games online. This site is based on Whitewolf's: Vampire The Masquerade.

The Succubus Club West is a play by messageboard game, set in the urban gothic arena of Vampire The Masquerade, a Whitewolf game. With multiple rooms, and dozens of possible settings, Club Succubus West offers something for every fan of the Vampire game.

The Club itself was once an old disco turned into an Elysium by younger kindred seeking something a bit more modern and upbeat hangout than that of their more aged contemporaries. State of the art sound systems, flash and glitz and blood dolls aplenty. What more could your young lick ask for? If he feeds on a mortal, no one notices. The mortals, reveling in the modern ideal of vampirism, fed upon one another. These blooddolls would find nothing unusual in a vampire also feeding on them. In this manner, the masquerade was skirted over and over, yet never broken.

These days, Succubus Club West the club is somewhat changed. The Camarilla clamped down on tradition "skirters". The local prince, knowing something must be done to appease the senses of all involved, from city visiting garou, to magi and even the restless dead, acquired an old movie theater, and the SCW was moved to the new location. The bottom floor is a replica of the original club. The second floor is elegant film chic, for those with an eye toward richly appointed rooms. The third floor is a replica of an 18th century opera house, and frequented by the elders for the most part. The Crypt in the basement ... well that is another story altogether.

So the setting is rich, and fully realized. The characters developed not on paper, but in play, as the best characters always are. What is involved in running this sort of game?

Well, first clearly, you must have a site. SCW uses MSN.. Setting up your site with graphics and a fully developed story (you did remember to develop a story first didn't you?) can be quite time consuming, but do not skimp on this part. People may stay for the role-play, but they sign up based on the appearance of your site.

Now, you must get players, some suggestions, contact a reviewer, and give them a tour of your site. I am personally always on the look out for up and comming games. Register with game lists, offer link exchanges with other games, and tell all of your friends online to spread the word.

No problem, it was a joy visiting your site, a truly fine example of running a traditional game in an online forum.
