Game mastering Online: Macray's Keep

And then for those of us who wish to play the classics, where do we go? To play GURPS, AD&D, Vampire the Masquerade, etc.? Well, in my searches, I have found a site that does just that. Allows you to play, or run, the classics.

Home of the game master online Macray's Keep Is the premier site for those wanting to run a traditional RPG online. What exactly is Macray's Keep? Well in the game's own words:

"The concept behind the construction of Macray's Keep is to give gamers a single place to gather, spin tales, search for adventure, and make their way in the world!"

Imagine, your player's find you, and you have a pick of some of the most talented people online. How can you tell? Because after they have developed their character according to the rule system you have chosen, you can examine their writing sample, and accept only those who you feel would add the most to your game.

First things first, sign up for your free membership. Next, as always, read all of the help files and FAQs. but then none of my readers would dream of starting any game without doing that first I am sure. After all, you must be link clickers, you found me.

And, by the way, play someone else's game before you write your own, maybe play a few. GMing on the web is far different from pen and paper, or even live action games. Get the feel for how it is done, and if you see something that isn't working, you will know better for your own game.

Now you are ready to create your first character.

This game is just a bit different from what you may expect. I was surprised, and gratified, to see that you tell your character story before you set their stat.s. This is for people who place a heavy emphasis on the role-play aspect of the game.

After you have decided what your character looks like, then you can "maintain" your character by setting their attributes, skills, etc.

Now that you are armed with a character, look for the list of current games, and apply to join. Be prepared, you will likely be asked to submit a writing example. This seems to be a sort of initiation into the game, as well as a measure of your talent and commitment. Do the very best job you can.

I would not be surprised in the future to see this game registered as a Hot Site at Starting Point or game of the month at MPOGD
