In continuing my review of game masters online, I attempted to review a very promising looking site called The Shape Shifter's Role Playing Network. Unfortunately, I was unable to do so. They refuse to allow any AOL members, as they say it would be far too easy for us to make a bogus account and, in the words of the webmaster "I also cannot accept ANY new applicants who use Free Web-Mail, OR American Online (AOL). It is too easy for a harasser to make an alias Web-mail or AOL email and LIE their way onto the network." and I, like many of my readers I am sure, resent the idea that anyone would automatically assume I am a liar because of my Internet service. I refuse to switch my connection simply because someone has made the decision that all AOL users, and those with free access, cannot be trusted. This sort of prejudice will never garner from me a good review, and I heartily advise my readers to not only boycott this particular game site, but all who would make such outlandish claims.
While I will leave the link on my main links page so that you may ascertain for yourselves the veracity of this article, I will not link to it here.
Not only was I refused admittance, but it was not until six months after I had applied, and then complained that I had received no response, that I was contacted to tell me that I was not welcome to join. This is also inexcusable.
Again I ask my readers to boycott this game.
