Ho-OO- the Japanese phoenix, the Ho being the male bird and the Oo being the female. It comes to earth to do good deeds for people, and it's appearance is symbolic of the beginning of a new era. The bird then ascends back to heaven to await a new era. It is much like the Chinese Phoenix the Feng-Huang. The Ho-Oo has been adopted as a symbol of the royal family, particularly the empress. It is supposed to represent the sun, justice, fidelity and obedience.

Adventure Hook- This would make a perfect questing beast. It could be the start, or end of a new campaign. It may also be used to spice up your heraldry.

Ichthyocentaur- a variation of the centaur. This aquatic version of the centaur. It has the upper half of a man, the tail of a dolphin and the forelegs of a horse or lion. This beast symbolizes fertility.

Adventure Hook-These demi-humans are an excellent addition to any near sea campaign. Use the stats of an strong mermaid. They can be used as an NPC race, and I have even used them as an interesting new player character.

Jack-In-Irons- A very dangerous giant who haunts the deserted roads in Yorkshire. He is covered with chains and the heads of his victims. His weapon is a large club with spikes.

Adventure Hooks-The perfect opponent for a mid to high level party. He is a ferocious stone giant of particularly evil nature, but lower intelligence.

Killmoulis- a very ugly creature who dwells in mills. He has an enormous nose but no mouth. He probably eats by stuffing food through his nostrils. A Killmoulis is a hard worker and a great help to a miller, but with his tricks he is sometimes more a nuisance than a help.

Adventure Hooks- A Killmoulis has moved into the mill of a new village. The party is hired to lure him away. Not an easy task as the creature will play pranks, of an increasingly malicious nature.

Liderc-In Hungarian folklore, Liderc is a devil equivalent to the incubus for a man or succubus for a woman. It hatches from the first egg of a black hen placed under the armpit. It carries out tasks such as finding treasure, but eventually grows bothersome because it demands work constantly and is always looking ahead to its next task. It can assume the form of a chicken or human being, but one leg always has a goose's foot. To get rid of him, one must set him on impossible tasks so he quits or dies in rage.
