Game Review-Shilla

Welcome to an age when a Man defended himself with his sword, skills, and valor. You are entering into a realm like no other. Go only where you dare, be wary of anyone you meet. Defend yourself at all cost, and most importantly, watch over your shoulder at all times.

Warning: Shilla is fantasy. It is a game. No characters where injured in the making of this game. No one was hurt, shot, murdered, maimed, killed, or otherwise injured. No one associated with Shilla condones any type of violence in the real world. If you don't understand that do not continue. OK one last time. This is only a game.

These are the words that greet you as you prepare to enter the world of Shilla a free, online rpg. Owned and operated, by Timothy Foden Sr., more commonly known simply as Tim. Though more of the hack and slash adventure than true high fantasy, Shilla has much to offer fans. It is a mostly text based, with some images, style game. Weapons armor and magical items are strewn about with reckless abandon, leaving one to wonder what became of the previous owners. And with good cause. Goblins, convicts, hydras, vicious druids, and even dragons await you at every turn. There are quests into dark foreboding castle, guarded by hostile soldiers. Vast druid valleys. Dark forests, and even an underwater world set high in a dangerous mountain pass. The words of warning are necessary, Shilla is a very brutal and violent game. The players eagerly await the emergence of PK, Player kill, where players will be allowed to go head to head with one another. At the current time they are only allowed to fight computer generated monsters, as they travel through a fantasy setting. The rules are simple, kill or be killed. Join your clans. But when you face the hydra, you face him alone. No one can help you, only your weapons, and your armor are of any use. And the food that heals you to fight on. The chat site is equally brutal. I have heard language there that would make a sailor blush with shame. But I have it under good authority the chats will soon be moderated. Tim is aware of these few problems and is working to correct them. I must say that I found Shilla, overall to be a fun and exciting game. Like all games it has it's bugs, but Tim is working hard to correct those, and is quite gracious and prompt in handling player problems. He makes himself readily available by email and ICQ, and is willing to go the extra mile to see that players have a good time.
