Back From Whence It Came: The Adventure Begins (Part II)In the Forest The next leg of the journey will be through a dark and forbidding forest. Almost as soon as they enter they feel eyes upon them. This forest is filled with evil malevolent Treants, living trees. They will not harm the travelers directly, but will attempt to lead other creatures to them. Roll your system's method for encounters, then roll on my charts or use the ones provided by your system. The pace through the forest should be fast, and filled with battle. This leg of the journey is very dangerous. There is also the danger of becoming lost. If the party wanders off the path they will find the forest is very difficult to navigate; the trees never seem to be in the same place twice (note: the trees ARE moving to confuse the party). The best course of action is to stay on the path; however the trees will be trying to get them to move off the path with constant battles. All of this is only at night. During the day things will be peaceful and quiet. Almost eerily so. It will take 6 days to travel out of the forest to the foothills. Note: Do not forget to add the penalties (to a max of-5) for resisting the tomes influence. This is the one time of the game where random charts are needed in order to reflect influence of the trees. The Foothills Here the party will find a small mining town. A good lodge, an adequate blacksmith and a store. All at prices only 3x those listed in your equipment resource guide. One of the party members will now see the odd little man they first met in their town of origin. When (if) he tells the rest of the party, the man will have vanished when they return. The spy is desperate. he has received word from his employer that he must take the arch and tome, forgetting about the caverns for now. He will begin looking for opportunities to steal it. Random Encounter Charts In The Town 1. A drunk who follows them predicting doom. 2.A pickpocket 3.A fortune teller who offers to tell their fortunes for a few coppers.
