Say this to your party through your mouth piece: Long ago there was a battle among the Archmages. It raged for decades. More and more powerful objects were created, until in the end it was feared all life would be annihilated. An assasins guild took matters into their own hands, secured the best concealing magics they could find, and one by one defeated the Archmages. The leaders of human, and demi-human kind came together in a mighty peace talk, and it was decided that all of the objects of power would be cast into a massive cavern, to be guarded for all time by the assasins guild. Knowledge of it's location, and eventually existance, was covered up. All was safe and secure, until six months ago. One of the guardians, as they became known, betrayed the guild, stole an object and sold it to a lord that was attempting to usurp his brother's throne. The object was retrieved after the coup failed. It is feared that if any one group was to deliver the object back to the caverns, the temptation would prove to great. So it has been travelling from land to land on it's final journey, and now it is to you to deliver it to the guardians. What you should know but not say: The object in question will be in a magically sealed, physically locked and bound, box approximately 1 foot square. The object inside the box is a miniature archway, 9 inches tall by 5 inches wide. It is made of solid mythral, and gem encrusted, the materials alone make it nearly priceless. Accompanying the object is a small tome, made of an unknown animal skin. When the archway is placed in a physical doorway, and the word of activation is spoken it becomes a gateway, through which ANYTHING may be summoned. Providing it's true name is known. The tome contains the true name of some of the most feared creatures, and demons in the multiverse. While the archway is not, in and of itself, an evil device, even good creatures may be summoned, the book is. It belonged to a very evil Archmage who imbued it with a near intelligence. While it can not communicate, it's magics allow it to entice anyone within a two hex area (usually six feet) to open it and read. This is a subtle magic. The players will begin to want to open the box, just to see if all is well within. anyone with curiosity disadvantages will need to pass an appropriate test (willpower, IQ, etc..), not to make an attempt to open it, after one day. All others will begin after three days. It will take two weeks to reach the place where the guardians will take the box. Go To Page: 1 2
