As spring fever hits, along with the powerful urge to redecorate everything I can not stress the importance of using
the Internet to shop AND save money! There are things I would not recommend purchasing on the Internet, such
as items of one quantity (your savings will disappear with the shipping and handling fees) or anything the could be
considered an impulse purchase.
Your savings by shopping on the Internet include no sales tax (95% of the time), free shipping in many instances, lower pricing due to lower overhead. In addition, you can easily comparison shop in a fraction of the time it would take you to contact local vendors either in person or by phone. Items I recommend shopping for on the Internet are as follows: Books Homeschooling Material Auto Parts Personal Hygiene Items Home health supplies Linens Household decor items Toys Office Supplies Computers & Accessories Insurance Quotes (all types) Automobiles (at least to gather pertinent information) Craft Supplies Jewelry Christmas Gifts Birthday Gifts For example, CVS.com has Internet specials all the time. You can save anywhere from one to four dollars per item and shipping is free for purchases of at least $35.00. Now that sounds like a lot, but when you add up the cost of toothpaste, sanitary napkins, OTC medications (cold remedies, etc.). Your savings after considering the lack of sales tax and free shipping is considerable! Their Internet Specials even beat their in-store prices! You just can’t go wrong stocking up on your personal hygiene supplies here! Another great example is carparts.com. You know that you are going to need x, y and z to do some work on the car in the future (non-emergency of course). Order it online! Store policy is free shipping on orders over $50.00. In addition to the savings, many places on the Internet offer coupon codes for additional savings. These codes can be difficult to acquire at times, but it can be done! Please see the list of links below for directories of coupons online for your easy browsing! The bottom line here (as always) relates to planning and a little footwork. Saving money should never be so much work it takes the joy out of your life and with the Internet, it just keeps getting easier and easier!
