The power of personal networking

One of the greatest resources on earth is the people who live here! I firmly believe that if we will take the time to connect with others who have needs and can meet needs, the world would be a much happier place! While it won't solve the huge problems of the world, such as nuclear waste, it can help many people in their day to day lives.

Skeptical? Good! Welcome to a two week period in my life.

I am working on a project at work that requires me to make a million phone calls only to find I have to make a million more. I found that one company with which I had interviewed some time ago had the very product that I was seeking. I called them reminded them that I had interviewed with them and asked for their contact name. Result? I received the information I needed in only TWO telephone calls!

Several months ago we needed blueprints to build our extra bedrooms. Someone we know was kind enough to make us official type blueprints that were vital in our addition. Recently, their kitchen broke so my husband welded it for free!

We have two cars, however one is not running properly. We have a friend who is a mechanic. Now we do not have anything at this time that we can assist them with, but I contacted him to see if he would be willing to fix the car and allow us to pay him over time if we bought the parts. We are taking the car to his house Wednesday night.

A friend of mine has recently become a stay at home mom. She has volunteered to watch my daughter who is in a group daycare for less money. This helps her budget and mine!

When I have a need, or see a need, I make a mental inventory of what I have, what I can do, and who I know that can do it. It would be inappropriate to constantly be on the receiving end, so I try to connect people who have situations where they can help one another.

If you will take the time to look at the needs and solutions you can offer others, you may find that you are literally sitting on the answer to your problems! Swap babysitting, tutoring, crafts, car pooling, anything that you can DO may be a tremendous asset to others!

May the force of networking with others be with you!
