Merry Christmas!

Happy holidays from all seven of us to all of you!

I have to tell you that it was a little challenging to move one week prior to Christmas. Hair raising to be more precise. Things did work smoothly for us in the end, but a little more planning on my part would have been advised.

My topic this week is my seasonal realizations about Christmas. The last few years have been frugal, but hectic and not so merry. This year I have stayed on the budget, but only went Christmas shopping twice. I put a lot of thought into the gifts (including how much of my time would be spent with the games, etc.)

I focused on the needs of my family rather than the desires of my children. We need to spend more time together as a family unit doing typical, "old fashioned" things like game night, educational games for the smaller children, etc. We have set up in the new place and organized all our things into the proper places. I am excited about the year to come.

What does it take to meet the needs of multiple children? TIME, STAMINA and above all, some forward thinking and planning, planning, and yes more planning.

We opted to buy age appropriate games for our kids and set aside time to play with them. We bought some craft things that we could help the older kids with as needed.

I am relaxed. I am excited. I am happy. Most of all I am able to focus clearly on the meaning of the season and reflect on my life having just celebrated another birthday. What a blessing!

If you have already purchased your gifts, or even if you are on a very tight budget, there is a wealth of information on the net regarding FREE activities you can do with your children. I will be adding some links to the this article tomorrow night on just that topic.

ENJOY Christmas, don't worry about the gifts you couldn't buy, the people you can't afford to shop for. Gift (material things) are not the greatest thing you have to offer anyone. The greatest gift you can give anyone, including your children, is your time, attention, and affection.
